What makes for a great gift?
We all talk about the gift experience that we had or choosing out the best gift for men and women in our lives, but at the end of the day what counts is the systematic approach that we followed to buy that gift and not the number of unusual gift ideas that we have gone through.
The ‘right’ gift, as we can call, is the one that shows uniqueness, personal touch and creativity. This gift should also convey to the receiver of the gift that a lot thought has gone into it to make it a memorable experience. Money or the cost of the gift does not matter at all, but there are certain things that you should do before going on a buying spree.
The recipient. Be clear in your mind about the receiver of the gift. You should understand that the gift depends on your relations with the person. A gift to your wife will be different than a gift for an associate or a colleague or for that matters your children.
The occasion. Most important is the occasion. You have to vary your type of gift according to the occasion. If it’s your marriage anniversary the gift would be more romantic than a gift given at the time of graduation.
Be yourself. Your choice of gift also shows and reveals your personality. So, be yourself and make sure that the gift is appropriate and the one with which the recipient can relate to.
Avoid excessiveness. Do not go over the board. Remember simple gifts can also be well received as opposed to expensive gifts.
Work in advance. If you are going to wait for the D-day to buy the gift then you might run out of time. It will give you little time to properly present it and in the end you will end up showing that you don’t care.
